Electrolysis Consent Agreement, Aftercare Instructions, and Medical Questionnaire

Chapter 1: Treatment Guidelines and Precautions

Effective Date: April 1, 2026

1.1 Expected Treatment Reactions

During electrolysis hair removal treatment, some level of discomfort may occur, including pain, sensitivity, or minor bleeding. After treatment, temporary or, in some cases, longer-lasting skin reactions may occur, including redness, swelling, irritation, or a sensation of discomfort.

Recovery time varies depending on individual factors such as skin type, physical condition, immune status, medications, lifestyle, and adherence to aftercare instructions.

1.1-2 Treatment Method

Electrolysis hair removal involves inserting a fine probe into the hair follicle and applying electrical current to affect the hair root. Because this process applies both physical and thermal stimulation to the skin and follicle, skin reactions may occur following treatment.

1.1-3 Hair Growth Cycle and Treatment Mechanism

Hair grows in cycles consisting of growth, transitional, and resting phases. Electrolysis is most effective during the growth phase. Therefore, a single treatment cannot affect all hairs, and multiple sessions are required.

This treatment works by delivering electrical current into the follicle, creating thermal or chemical changes that reduce the hair’s ability to regrow.

1.2 Care of the Treated Area

Do not touch, scratch, or apply unnecessary irritation to the treated area. The condition of the skin after treatment may be affected by aftercare, lifestyle habits, and external factors.

1.3 Cleansing

Avoid using soap on the treated area for 24 to 48 hours after treatment. If cleansing is unavoidable, rinse thoroughly and gently.

1.4 Sun Exposure and Heat

For one week before and after treatment, and especially within 48 hours after treatment, avoid prolonged sun exposure, tanning beds, swimming pools, hot springs, saunas, and similar heat-related environments.

1.5 Friction and Physical Activity

For one week before and after treatment, and especially within 48 hours after treatment, avoid intense physical activity, friction, shaving, or any form of irritation to the treated area.

1.6 Possible Skin Reactions

After treatment, the following may occur: redness, minor bleeding, blistering, scabbing, pigmentation changes, changes in sensation such as numbness or tingling, or temporary changes in skin texture.

Bruising may also occur due to minor bleeding beneath the skin or capillary damage. Temporary hypersensitivity or discomfort may persist.

If scabs form, do not remove them, as doing so may increase the risk of scarring.

1.6-2 Potential for Permanent Changes

Due to the nature of the treatment, there is a rare possibility of permanent effects such as scarring, pigmentation changes, changes in skin texture, or altered sensation.

Mild burns caused by electrical energy may occur. Depending on individual skin response, treatment conditions, or other factors, thermal damage or slight skin depressions may develop. Individuals prone to keloids may develop raised scars, including hypertrophic scars.

1.6-3 Risk of Infection

Depending on the condition of the skin, hygiene, and aftercare, there is a possibility of bacterial infection, folliculitis, or secondary infection.

Ingrown hairs may also occur as a result of changes within the follicle.

1.6-4 Allergic Reactions and Contact Dermatitis

Products used during treatment, including disinfectants, topical products (such as moisturizers or soothing agents), metal instruments, or gloves, may cause allergic reactions or contact dermatitis, including redness, itching, or swelling.

If you have any known or suspected allergies (including medications, cosmetics, metals, or latex), you must disclose them in advance.

1.6-5 Viral Reactivation

If you have a history of conditions such as herpes simplex (cold sores) or shingles, symptoms may recur or reactivate due to treatment stimulation or changes in physical condition.

You must disclose any relevant medical history in advance.

1.7 Management of Itching

If itching occurs, avoid irritation and use gentle cooling as needed. When cooling, do not apply ice or cold packs directly to the skin. Use a clean cloth or gauze as a barrier and limit use to short durations.

Avoid prolonged cooling or excessive stimulation.

1.8 Treatment Results and Number of Sessions

The number of sessions and duration required to achieve hair removal vary by individual, and no specific results or timeframes are guaranteed.

Outcomes depend on factors such as hair density, hair growth cycle, treatment intensity, treatment intervals, and personal hair removal methods.

1.8-2 Treatment Progress

During the treatment process, the skin may temporarily appear worse, and recovery may take time depending on individual response.

1.8-3 Alternative Options

Alternative methods include choosing not to undergo treatment, laser hair removal, waxing, shaving, tweezing, or depilatory creams.

You agree that you have received or independently reviewed information regarding the characteristics and expected effects of these alternatives and have chosen electrolysis voluntarily.

1.8-4 Hormonal and Medical Factors

Hormonal changes, endocrine conditions, or medications may affect treatment effectiveness, required sessions, treatment intervals, and the degree of regrowth.

1.9 Treatment Deferral

Treatment may be postponed if safety cannot be ensured due to skin inflammation, injury, infection, illness, or other relevant conditions.

If there are any changes in your physical condition, skin condition, or medications before or after your scheduled appointment, you must notify the salon at least 24 hours in advance.

1.9-2 Pre-Treatment Requirements

To ensure safety and effectiveness, you agree to the following:

  • Arrive with clean skin in the treatment area

  • Avoid waxing, tweezing, or similar hair removal methods for a specified period prior to treatment

  • Do not undergo treatment if you have severe sunburn or active inflammation

  • Accurately disclose medications, medical history, and skin condition

  • Disclose any medications that may affect the treatment

1.10 Not a Medical Facility

This salon (Pinsia) is not a medical facility and does not provide medical diagnosis, treatment, or medical advice.

1.11 Medical Consultation

If symptoms worsen, persist, or cause significant concern or anxiety, you should seek medical attention.

If you experience severe swelling, widespread redness, intense pain, fever, discharge, difficulty breathing, or other serious symptoms, you must seek medical attention immediately.

If abnormalities or severe symptoms occur in the treated area, medical evaluation may be necessary, and treatment such as topical or oral medication may be required.

Responsibility for medical expenses will be determined in accordance with applicable laws and individual circumstances, and this agreement does not automatically establish legal liability on the part of the salon.

1.11-2 Contacting the Salon

If you experience abnormalities, severe symptoms, or have questions regarding symptoms or treatment, you must contact the salon as soon as reasonably possible.

The salon will provide reasonable support, including fact-checking and necessary information.

1.12 Medical Evaluation

The salon does not provide medical diagnosis or treatment regarding post-treatment symptoms. Evaluation and treatment must be performed by a medical institution.

1.13 Post-Treatment Symptoms

Post-treatment symptoms may be influenced by multiple factors, including individual constitution, lifestyle, medical history, and skin condition.

The cause of symptoms will be determined based on professional evaluation by a medical institution.

1.14 Recovery Period and Residual Effects

In most cases, post-treatment reactions will gradually improve over time. However, depending on individual factors, recovery may take longer, and changes in pigmentation or skin condition may persist for a certain period.

Smoking may affect blood circulation and delay healing.

1.15 Medical Professional Judgment

You are advised not to rely solely on explanations provided by salon staff regarding post-treatment symptoms and should seek evaluation from a qualified medical professional when necessary.

1.16 Determination of Causation

A medical diagnosis alone does not automatically establish a direct relationship between treatment and symptoms. Causation will be evaluated comprehensively based on medical knowledge and individual circumstances.

1.17 Treatment on Tattooed Areas

Treatment on tattooed areas may result in changes to color or design.

You acknowledge and accept this risk before proceeding with treatment, and still wish to undergo the treatment at your own discretion.

Changes in color, design, or skin condition in tattooed areas may occur due to the nature of the treatment, and the salon will not be held liable unless negligence on the part of the salon is established under applicable law.

1.18 Limited Visibility Due to Tattoos

Tattoos may make it more difficult to identify early signs of skin issues.

1.19 Skincare Restrictions

After treatment, avoid using strong or irritating skincare products such as retinol, retinoids, or chemical peels.

1.20 Symptom Documentation

If symptoms occur, you may be asked to provide photographs of the affected area (such as front and side views) as close as possible to the time of onset.

1.21 Unpredictable Reactions

In addition to known reactions, unpredictable or unknown reactions may occur depending on individual factors.
